ESPECIALLY FOR RETURNEES AND THEIR PARENTS

“So you're back home but don’t feel like you belong, what now?”

Returnees can stay connected with AFS or Reconnect by Volunteering.

To find out about upcoming events in your community or area, go to the Pacific Cascades Area Calendar.

Read stories from students who are/were abroad on AFS. Send us your story to share with other returning students and natural families. Share a picture that can be used on this website or in the area quarterly newsletter.

If you are finding that readjustment to home is difficult, read this essay by an AFS returnee Coming Home. Additional reading we recommend is the book, The Art of Coming Home by Craig Sorti, a former AFS staffer in New York.

For the Parent who wants to prepare for Your Child’s Return, here is an article that can help you help your child.

Also, please read Twelve Tips for Welcoming Your Child Home and Advice for Parents from AFS Returnees.

For more information, go to AFS National website, www.afs.org/usa or call 1-800-AFS-INFO to talk to a live person. You can also email the AFS Pacific Cascades Area team at info@afscascades.org to find out how local volunteers can help you.
