http://www.worldaffairscouncils.org/

The mission of the World Affairs Council is connecting Americans to the world, building people to people ties, and enhancing international understanding. There are 80 councils across the USA. All councils sponsor speakers' programs on international affairs. Many councils also organize educational travel programs, business roundtables, teacher workshops, school programs, model UNs, foreign policy discussions, opinion polling, young professionals' programs, cultural festivals, local conferences, newspaper columns, newsletters, journals, and local radio and television programs. This site also provides a great list of links to sites with an international focus.

Tourism Directory
http://www.towd.com/

The TOWD is a guide to official tourist information sources. The Directory lists only official government tourism offices, convention and visitors bureaus, chambers of commerce, and similar agencies which provide free, accurate, and unbiased travel information to the public. No travel agents, no tour operators, no hotels.

United Nations Missions
http://www.un.org/Overview/missions.htm

This site provides contact information to all missions to the United Nations, and links to their respective websites where available. Many missions provide country specific information upon request and usually have a contact list of guest speakers who you might enlist for orientations or information nights. The links to host country media sites are useful to those who wish to brush up on current events in a particular country. These links are especially helpful to outbound participants who will most likely encounter a greater number of questions about their opinions on current events, politics and history once overseas, than they are accustomed to receiving in the US.

Peace Corps
http://www.peacecorp.gov/wws/facts/index.html

These Fact Files contain information about countries where Peace Corps Volunteers serve. They are offered as a reference to cultural, physical, and historical characteristics of the countries. These statistics can be used to compare and contrast the geographical and cultural statistics of various countries and provide assistance in the study of the relationship between human beings and their environment. For many of the countries listed on this site, there are first person accounts written by returned Peace Corp volunteers on such topics as local celebrations, school and various aspects of culture.
